i’m liz!

I’m a theater-maker, teacher & environmental advocate. I make strange & boundless plays. I teach kids and young adults how to imagine wildly & tell meaningful stories. I create collaborative communities. I believe in magic. I hold space.

I believe in the power of witnessing and being witnessed. I believe in resistance against systems of oppression. I believe in creating room for folks of all ages to feel openly, follow impulses, cultivate empathy & engage in serious tomfoolery.

I am interdisciplinary director, writer, devisor, mover and educator. My performance projects range from immersive circuses to interactive audio tours; plays performed on traditional stages to duets with quarries. My work is based in collaborative, ensemble-based practices that recognizes art-making and art-consuming as vital acts of community-making.

I began my career in environmental advocacy, legislation, and education. My work is often informed by the ongoing climate crisis, landscape, and ecological wisdom.

Other Constellations: I’m was born and raised in Northern VA on occupied Piscataway land. I graduated from Wesleyan University (CT) with a Double BA in Theater & Government, and a minor in Environmental Studies. I love blustery days & inventing silly songs. I reside with my partner in the East Bay of California on unceded Ohlone land.
